The Dynasty that had 4 Emperors in a year
➣ In 1883, a year before Vietnam surrendered to French colonial rule, the country’s feudal government, the Nguyễn Dynasty, saw changes in leadership three times, with four separate emperors, one of them only lasted for three days. So, how did this happen?

Remnants of the Taiping Rebellion
Просмотров 4,9 тыс.6 месяцев назад
➣ In the middle of the 19th century, the Taiping Rebellion, led by the self-proclaimed brother of Jesus, broke out throughout China, resulting in a death toll of 20-30 million people. Despite being crushed by the Qing Dynasty, remnants of the uprising still existed throughout the 1860s as they fled to Northern Indochina in the form of various banditries. These armies would cause havoc in the re...
When did the Vietnam War start?
Просмотров 8 тыс.8 месяцев назад
➣ The starting date of the Vietnam War has always been a contention amongst various historians, which makes a lot of sense because the war gradually escalated over a long period. Although I don’t think there is an objective answer to this question, there was one point in Vietnamese history that, in my opinion, was a convincing candidate for the start of the war. ➣ Script with citations: • drive...

🇹🇼 Can Taiwan unite with China? 🇨🇳
Просмотров 54 тыс.2 года назад
➣ Taiwan has one of the most fascinating histories in Asia. It started as the origin of the famous Austronesian people, and then it became a Dutch and a Spanish colony. Taiwan was then conquered by the Qing dynasty during the 17th century and ruled by the Japanese in the early 20th century. When the Second World War was over, the island was given to the Republic of China, where the nationalist ...

Great video! But you forgot about how when the British was deciding to give Myanmar independence, they only wanted to give the lower half of modern day Myanmar and leave the upper, mountainous areas. Aung San had to convince the ethnic groups at the upper area to join them as for the deal with the British. Aung San had promised many of them independence or statehood, which could've also been apart of the reason for his assassination. A few more facts: One of the primary reason why the nation's name was changed is because Burma is named after the largest ethnic group, Bamar/Burmese. This is primarily the reason why I don't life using the name Burma when referring to the nation as a whole because it alienates a lot of ethnic groups.

Blaming the British and Kuomintang as the cause for all of Myanmar's problems is rather ludicrous. Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and Myanmar are the only former British colonies in Southeast Asia but only Myanmar is so poor and unstable while the other 3 are the richest, most developed and most stable countries in the region. Myanmar's single and biggest mistake was to throw out every British-created institution and influence from the moment the country gained independence.

Pretty sure there's only one single solution left since everybody from both side of the political spectrum cannot be reasoned with or solve it diplomatically. The corruption and the mindset of politicians and gov official having a ME first attitude instead of MY Country first so deeply rooted not just on a National scale but also on the culture scale that it seriously needs to be changed drastically via drastic measures. Most importantly is that after the change we need to change people mindset too from the groundup via education.

As sad as this is, there is one thing that could come out of the civil war: the minorities could have a lot more cordial ties to the Burmese. Most of them anyways, because they’re fighting together with the National Unity Front (I think that’s what it’s called), a Burmese led organization.

I found a problem with the video. The Japanese attack on Korea was the only time that Korea went on an expedition when the Yuan Dynasty attacked Japan in 1274 When Korea invaded Japan, it took away Japan's Tsushima Island and took control of it for about 300 years, but it did little damage to Japan I hope the translation was successful

Growing up in a Vietnamese diaspora community where the yellow flag was glorified and the red regime was and still is condemned, I was basically taught that the yellow republic regime was better for the people. Today, after learning more about the happenings of the past, my personal perspective of communism largely remain unchanged but I have also become very disappointed in the southern regime. Sure, the north has committed unimaginable atrocities during the conflict but so has the south… Both sides have caused so much pain and suffering to the civilians. Both sides have oppressed their citizens and violated their basic human rights. Worst part is, supporters of both sides are either blinded, brainwashed or in complete denial regarding the imperfections of their political regimes. A great example is that southern supports tend to harp on about how communism oppressed and denied people of practicing their religion. However, they fail to recognise that the Ngo Dinh Diem regime also oppressed Buddhism despite it being the country’s largest religion. When that was pointed out, a complicated fabric of excuses would be woven to explain and protect the late president’s decision. Perhaps I am just ignorant and don’t know every tiny detail. Unless I grew up during that time and witness it first hand, it is hard to tell what is fact and what is propaganda. In any case, with the knowledge I’ve gained from looking into both sides, I have concluded that neither side is unconditionally “good”. Both sides have done good but have also made many grave mistakes that costed thousands of innocent lives. To me, and me alone, Vietnam was once split into two and essentially ruled by two dictatorships. Throughout history, conflict has broken out all over the world and when you break it all down, the common denominator is greed. Greed for power. Greed for wealth. Greed for land. This greed can be disguised as patriotism at times but in every case, it brings about suffering to the innocent civilians that just want to live in peace with their basic human rights… What is worse is that, despite our advancements in knowledge and technology, these greed wars are still happening today. I hope for a conflict-free world one day and who knows if it is even possible but until my last breath, all I can do is hope for peace and harmony.
